Aimé Mpane - Koko (2006-10)
One of a series of 50 portraits. Mixed media on wood.

Aime Mpane’s work is informed by a political consciousness that comes out of his awareness of Africa’s colonial history that has evolved since the Berlin Conference of 1885 which divided Africa into territories of European control. The violent atrocities that ensued during this period of exploitation and domination are well documented and continue to affect modern Congolese society.
